I have F-250 FX4 6.0 diesel 2005. I tow a 36 foot Extreme5 Carriage lite. Trailer is a little over 14000#. I get 20.5 hwy empty and 12 towing on hwy. I had a 35' holiday Rambler bumper pull which was only 9000-9500#. I would only get 11-11.5 mpg. The fiver is more areodynamic is all I can figure out.

My 2000 Dodge 2500 with Cummins diesel gets about 16mpg when not towing. When towing a 10K 5er at about 62 mph I get between 10 and 12 mpg. This fall when I was in a hurry I towed across country at 67 mph and got 9 mpg and never saw 10 once.

Just got back fo AZ with my silverado 1500 5.3 vortec. Pulled my 23 foot Award behind out and back.ALLthough this trailer is not super heavy the truck gets around 12mpg with it behind and around 18 empty. NOT BAD FOR A TRUCK WITH 270,000 MILES ON IT!
ONLY NEW PARTS HAVE BEEN THE ALTERNATOR, SEPENTINE BELT, SPARK PLUGS.
OIL CHANGES TIRES AND BRAKES OTHER THAN THAT ITS GO GO GO

21.8 at 60 MPH with 04 2500 Cummins. Pulling 10000 # of 5 wheel at 55 MPH, I get between 12 13 MPG. 3.73 rear end. Good luck

The last message hit the spot, saying that he has a 3.73 rear end. The weight of the truck and the rear end gear will most likely determine the gas milage, not pulling. After that the weight of the trailer is another story. I have a 2006 F350 King Ranch dually and get 16 on the road and 9 or 10 towing a 28,000 5th wheel. My rear end gear is 4.10. All the four wheel drive trucks will get worse milage and a lesser towing weight.
