What type of product is the best to clean an awning that has been rolled up for a long time. This awning has something that looks like "mildew" on the underneath side. I am not sure that is what it is, it just looks like mildew. The awning looks like it has never been used before. 5th wheel is about 2 yrs old.

Barb, I have used 1 part bleach and 5 parts water and the results were great.Rinse well after the mold disappears. When I bought my rig the awning was as you describe. It worked for me and had no damage to the awning. Lou

My awning manufacturer suggests cleaning it by applying a soapy solution to both sides, with a long handled brish..use lots, then roll, and unroll the anwing several times to work it im. Leave it closed for about an hour, unroll and hose off well. good luck

I recently cleaned my awning using the method that low described.

Worked great hopes it lasts a long time. :)

After you clean your awning, suggest that you use 303 on it for protection.

Thanks for replies from everyone. However, I would like to know what 303 is. I am not familiar with that product. Where can it be purchased?

"303 Aerospace Protectant" can be found in RV and marine stores. It is supposed to protect against fading from UV rays and inhibits oxidation. Camping World states that it "provides protection for rubber seals, EPDM roof, dash and trim, fiberglass and tires."

It is a bit expensive, but a good product.
