I just found this wonderful site and have already learned a lot from it.

Bob and I are just beginning another "life", one that many of you have already experienced. We have gotten a beautiful 5th wheel and are headed out to live in it for a while.

One of our major concerns when purchasing our 5th wheel was our beloved Kitty, Pearlie. We want to make sure she has the proper accommodations at all times. We will be parked for some time in one location and want to make sure she has access to her "kitty box" while we are away. But we don't want to leave it inside the living area. Back behind the steps that lead up to the bedroom area is the basement. We believe this is where we can install a pet door that will allow her easy access to the basement area and her box. We will have some sort of step in the basement area for her, making it easy to get in and out through this door.

Has anyone out there had any experience with this type of arrangement and what problems, if any have you encountered. OR is there a better way than what we have envisioned?

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

A friend of mine put some sort of cage that hung on the outside of one of his windows (removed when he was traveling), which allowed his cat to lay in the sun just outside of his window.
We are all restricted only by our own imaginations, and anything is possible!

We have a covered litter box in the tub/shower. When we use the shower, it is on a counter or on the toilet. Our bathroom door has a small hole to let the cat in and out but keep the dog out.

Has any one put a cat flap into the storage from coach area, at the front of a 5th wheel?

We did not put a flat into the storage area but this is what we did.

For the last 7 months our kitty has been living in our 5th wheel.

We have, rather we had a floor heat vent in the bedroom. Bob took that vent out completely, kept the opening open and put the liter box down in the basement. We put a tall container under the hole so that she can climb down. My hubby emptys it every morning. There has never been a problem. She loves going down there and sometime plays with us and runs away, hiding in her place.

Sometimes I place a bathrug over the hole and she can easily move it whenever she feels the need to go down there.

Our 15 yr. old kitty has adjusted well to RV traveling. We have a small Class C and my husband fixed a latch on the bathroom door so it can be hinged open, and we put her litter pan in the shower on an empty black plastic bag. When we need the shower, the l.p. goes in the stair well. The plastic bag enables us to put the l.p. back in a wet shower and keeps kitty litter from going down the drain. It and the litter pan can easily be cleaned. Shadow has developed great "traveling legs" while we roll down the road.

Our cat has about 30,000 miles on her travel voucher. We have a covered litter box we keep beside the bed in our 29WB Cardinal 5th wheel. She is very much at home and we have no problems with this setup

We have two cats and their litter box is placed under the sink in bathroom. Works fine for us and the cats like it.
