I'm looking at a type of transmission cooler with some sort of by-pass system that allows cold fluid to by-pass the cooler until it comes up to operating temp. Has anyone had any experience with this or heard anything?
Also, please see my post concerning sway controls.
Thanks.

I have used a Long Tru Cool Max with their 708-4739 thermosttic valve. I ended up removing the valve with my last hose replacement, just for simplicity. I run the fluid through the Long first, then through the radiator heat exchanger to make the trans fluid as warm as the engine coolant. My observations of the trans fluid temp gage tell me this is working well, summer or winter.
However, you probably do not need a cooler unless you drive in really cold conditions. Like Bismarck or Fargo in January.
