Hi, I can't find the post on road side assistance. We are going to trade our Rv on to a bigger model, and were wondering "who" gives the better road side assistance. I heard of Good Sam, AAA, and what others are out there, what is the rating for each. heck what and who do you prefer. I will search but need what YOU think it a good one. For the money, and how fast they come out.

janers, We use Good Sam. Had had to use them only one time and that was to change a tire. No problem with them for that. Friends have had to use them for breakdowns and have been satisfied with them. Have not heard anything bad about their service. Lou

janers: The general word has been to stay away from Triple A. Depending on area whether their plan will work for you when needed. From other reports I've read and heard, Good Sams is a good one. I have mine through FMCA, Close friend has his through Camping World and we've discovered both is covered by Coach Net. A bit more expensive then others but we both feel the cost worth it.

I haven't had a need to use mine yet and hope I don't have to. He used his in N.Y.State for a flat tire which "they" took to a truck stop and had repaired, and in Flordia last year getting pulled by a wrecker some 60 miles to a garage that could take care of his problem. He is most happy with the no charge service.

I guess it's a case, you get what you pay for.

we have Good Sam's and have had to use them 4-5 times with our older rig....I like the sign and drive part...

The difference between Camping World's program and many others (even those like Good Sam that are also owned by AGI) is that you don't have to be a member of any other organization/club and that they cover all of your personal vehicles.

I will continue with the road service contract from "Camping World Roadcare" (formerly Affinity Road and Travel, formerly RRR) for the following reasons:
1. My motorhome's fuel pump failed, requiring a tow. They showed up in good time with the proper equipment, towed the rig to a service shop, and paid the tow charge without a hassle.
2. As Mike says, even though CW is part of AGI and uses the same dispatchers and service providers as Good Sam, I don't have to join Good Sam to buy CW's road care service. This is a real plus for me -- I'm not paying for "benefits" I don't need, want or use, and I get a whole lot less Good Sam-generated junk mail!
3. AAA has terrifc maps, offers some good services, and its membership offers plenty of discounts, including the same 10% for the same parks as GS, but its road service is too inconsistent for RVers.

FMCA also offers a road service contract, but membership in this group is limited to motorhomes. This doesn't affect me, but TT and 5th wheel owners wouldn't be eligible for the service.

We use State Farm for all our rigs. If you need to be towed, call the nearest and they will pay for it all. Cost about $20 a year.

Allstate RV Roadhelp will be hard to beat. Covers ALL vehicles at a reasonable cost.
Call them at 1-800-786-2277. I have been with them since Nov. 1995

I have Good Sam's also. The things that attracted me were that it protects your whole family including your children age 25 or younger living at home or attending college, covering your all of your vehicles. Triple A required an add on to cover each family member and an add on for your RV.

We have our through our insurance. Hi-Sage Marketing deals exclusively with RV insurance.

We will begin full-timing late this year. As Good Sam covers all drivers and all vehicles in the family (including RV, boat trailer or ATV if we choose) for one cost, we changed from AAA (20 year member) to the Good Sam service. AAA has many extras, including maps, planning and financial services. However, we are finding equal services (plus some) are available from Good Sam and the road service memberships. Since we were already paying our regular Good Sam dues, the switchover to their roadside service was not a cost issue.

The only thing I miss about AAA is the maps. And, their cost - $148.00. GoodSam ERS is $99.00. They cover all your vehicles and no questions ask'd. I had AAA for 22 years and paid for RV+ coverage and they refused to change the tire on my duelly pickup! Towed my wifes Honda of the freeway to the nearst gas station (4 blocks) and dropped her there. However, I still miss those maps!!
