My original warranty expired a few months ago. I never purchased an extended warranty and am looking for a reputable company now. Any recommendations on a company?

I have a Quote from Good Sam for a "Continued Service Plan" that seems reasonably priced to me. Has anyone had any experience with them regarding availabilty of participating service centers, actual payment of claims etc.
Thanks

I can only advise to stay away from DFS Warranty Service or their parent, United Service Protection, Inc. My holding tanks are clearly covered in the contract. They had the repair center replace the split tanks and then at the last minute, refused to pay...no reason given. I have an attorney filing against them. I have found that they have done others the same way.

Thanks Jerry, will definitely avoid them. I have about 5 days to decide before their offer expires so am hoping someone will see this who has experience or knowledge on the Good Sam plan.

Whoever you go with make sure you read all of it and or have it explained because we took the extended warrenty at purchase time or our new MH for an additional 4 yrs. and since the Hurricanes ripped our air-cond. shrouds off, we discovered a leak, only whne it is running, not due to rain, which came inside on the ceiling, took it for repair and it was the plastic tray under the evaporator, cracked open...well guess what the evap. is covered but the tray is not mentioned, so nothing was covered, because every single item must be mentioned in the contract, that's how they get out of many expenses.....So Buyer BEWARE! Camping World even told us if it's not mentioned in the warrenty it ain't covered, even if you can't repair one without the other.

I really can't say anything good about extended warranties!! We went with CSP thinking because they had their name linked with Good Sam they'd be the way to go... NO. 1. GS has nothing really to do with the company. 2. The engine on the MH had a failed and they failed to pay. 3. Claims people (some) were rude. 3. Sales people friendly.
If you do decide to do an ex. warranty. Have a mechanic read & tell you want the company won't pay & how they might try to get out of paying if it states they do cover & Have a lawyer look it over.
Our Mechanic say the CSP contract was one of the worse Ex. Warranty contracts he'd read (ways to avoid paying.).

Avoid National Warranty Of Florida. It is always a hassle getting them to pay anything. Much more difficult than filing a claim against your auto insurance.

Ref: 1999 Georgetown in Dash A/C.
Buyer beware!
We purchased an extended warranty mechanical insurance from Good Sam about the first of May of this year.
I had the system A/C checked out before I purchased the insurance, leak test with dye, and had freon added. No leaks were detected.
We went on a 4200 mile trip and shrotly after, the dash A/C stopped working, no cold air.
The shop said that it was the compressor had bad seals. We called the claims office and they said that the repairs would not be covered under the policy, because the RV was older than 5 years, and that they did not cover systems that were 5 years or older, to the read the policy. Well they were right, they always are.
When I bought the policy, nothing was mentioned about what repairs were not covered, after I bought the policy, the restrictions were noted on the policy.
Buyer beware, find out what they cover before you buy!
Thank you,
Ernie Nunez

Subject: Follow-up on claim for repairs on "in dash A/C".
I have hired a lawyer to determine if we can sue CSP-Good SAM. Will keep the forum posted.

Good news, my lawyer has informed me that it appears like CSP is going to pay for the repairs of the the A/C I haven't seen a check yet, but maybe it will happen.

I have had extended warranties on my last three MH's and have had good luck and service so far. I purchased in Calif from Credit Union auto sales in Sacto., and have a company caled The Choice supreme protection plan. I shopped extensively and chose them based on ratings. I have 7/70K with $100 ded for a cost of $1676.They paid more than my contract price on my last MH without any hassle. You have to buy before the Mfg warranty expires.I must stress; NEVER buy from a dealer if you can afford to buy comerage separately. You will save an average of 405 by shopping.

I just got a application for CSP insurance and for about $1,300 a year they don't cover much. They twist the words around so you don't know what is covered and what is not. It sounds like if a sub assembly (like a seal) causes a main assembly to fail then the major assembly won't be covered and so on. It is so confusing I just put it in the circular file.

Have a 5 year extended warranty and am having trouble getting National Warranty of Florida to pay for air conditioning and SE-GI window repairs. Would like to talk to others with similar experiences.
Thanks

Just as so many of you I have been greatly and repeatedly disappointed by CSP.
They have a brochure that specifically outlines all the item/components and failure types that are covered. However, when claim-time comes they find all kind of excuses and you end up paying for the repair AND the premium.
Nothing seems to be covered. For example, items that are clearly and unambiguously defined as "covered" in the outline, are somehow "not covered" in the "fine-print". I am not talking about wear and tear, I am talking about items like brake rotors, calipers, master brake cylinder etc.
It was hard to believe that the CSP claim people refused coverage when contacted by an official Ford Repair facility Service Manager. Incidentally, most chassis repair facilities do not want to deal with CSP since the hassle them on their hourly rate.
I even sent a letter to the CSP Review Board to plead my case. As a token of their "goodwill" they sent me a check for 200.00, which represents roughly 4% of the premium I've paid them over the years. The point is that I thought that I had coverage and I did not.
I can not believe that an organization as prestige’s as Good Sam's allows them to use there good name. It does not enhance Good Sam's credibility.
Over the years I have paid CSP somewhere between 4000 and 5000 dollar, mistakenly believing that this is the price to pay for "peace of mind". All it was is "false security".
Using the name of "Good Sam's" one of their employees or contractors had the nerve to call me to ask why I did not renew my policy. I am sure that this is the only time ever, that a telemarketer was ready to hang-up on a prospect.
After this disappointment I have decided to start my own RV disaster savings plan account. Every month I transfer a moderate amount of money into the plan. I know for a fact that when the time comes, I only pay for the repair and saved myself the premium.
I just wanted to share my CSP experience with my fellow RVers. I will never use them (CSP) again, but you decide for yourself
