I have a 1970 Winnebago that has never had the roof treated or sealed. I am considering coating it with Elastomeric. The paint has oxidized so I am planning to clean it really well and then prime and cover it with the Elastomeric coating. I have several tubes of rubber sealant to seal around the a/c, vents, etc. Has anyone used this product and if so, does it work well? If not, what do you suggest? I am new to the rv world and can use all the info I can gather. Thanks, Fish

I've used it under several different brand names (i.e. Snow Coat, Snow Roof, etc.) with very good results on fiberglass roofs. The last one I used was from Wal*Mart and it was just as good as the major brands and a lot less money.

Other than throughly cleaning and rinsing the roof, and allowing it to dry completely, I've never had to pretreat or prime before use. I do, of course, assure that all passages through the roof are properly sealed.

I use a paint brush to coat the areas around the vents, antenna, air conditioners and vent pipes and then a thick paint roller on a long handle for the rest of the roof. Using the thick paint roller gives a slightly textured coat which I like.

The last coat my MH received was three years ago. I just completed my semi annual roof cleaning job and the elastomeric coating looks almost as good as new.

In addition to sealing and protecting the roof, the coating helps to reduce inside temps during the summer.
